Celebrate Mardi Gras with a Virtual Cocktail Party

Updated: Feb 17

The Alliance for Greater Good is excited to host Cocktails for a Cause to benefit Womenaid of Greater Portsmouth.

Let the good times roll this Mardi Gras with a virtual cocktail party

The Alliance for Greater Good is holding its second virtual Cocktails for a Cause on March 1st to benefit Womenaid of Greater Portsmouth. A $50 donation gives you access to a fun and safe way to celebrate Mardi Gras at home. Gather friends and family and learn how to make three creative cocktails while dancing to some great live music.

With March being National Women’s History month, the Alliance decided to focus on female empowerment by providing a fun event by and for women and the men who love them. “We are super excited to spotlight one of Portsmouth’s best women bartenders, Charlotte Capra, and to raise funds for Womenaid, a great local nonprofit providing financial assistance to neighbors in need,” said Joanne Wolfe, one of the Alliance’s co-founders. Powered by eight amazing women, Womenaid provides short-term financial assistance for things such as automobile, childcare, education, healthcare, housing, and utilities expenses.

What a fun way to get together virtually with friends to support a great cause while learning to make cocktails and listening to amazing music. Get your BFFs together and enjoy!”

Charlotte Capra, the bar manager at The Kitchen in Portsmouth, will teach the audience how to mix three of her unique and delicious cocktails over the course of the hour-and-a-half event.

And, back by popular demand, local rock band Jamsterdam will provide lots of high-energy music during the breaks while participants enjoy the cocktails they’ve made.

Last year, with over 90 individual donors and more than 60 attending the online event, the Alliance raised over $6,200 for Take Out Hunger, an initiative to pay restaurants during the pandemic to make meals for those facing food insecurity.

According to Wolfe, one of the co-founders of the Alliance, “we had such a great time with last year’s event, and it raised so much money for those in need that we really wanted to repeat the event.” These are still challenging times so rally your friends and help us help others by supporting Cocktails for a Cause.
