The Alliance for Greater Good’s collaboration with the City of Portsmouth's Welfare Department raised over $2500 to provide needed backpacks and school supplies for students as they gear up for the 2022-2023 school year.
Back-to-School Drive raises $2500 to Help Families in Need
This is the third year that the Alliance supported the City’s Welfare Department, and this year provided two ways to help kids start the year off right, through a Yoga @Sunset event on the grounds of the Wentworth-Coolidge mansion and through direct donations to the Back-to- School Drive.
Alliance co-founders Lisa Vivinetto and Joanne Wolfe delivered the new backpacks and gift cards to Ellen Tully, the City of Portsmouth Welfare Administrator. She was grateful for the generous support of the community on behalf of their fellow neighbors.
"The Back-to-School Drive started in 2006 as a way to help parents who had to choose between buying their kids school supplies or paying their normal bills. With help from the community, the Welfare Department has been able to level the playing field at back-to-school time so that all students have the supplies they need to be successful. -Ellen Tully, City of Portsmouth Welfare Administrator
