The Alliance for Greater Good collaborated again with the City of Portsmouth's Welfare Department to provide needed school supplies for children.
On July 20 and 22, 2021, Kathryn Garcia, Alliance co-founder and certified yoga instructor, led two yoga classes on the porch of Carey Cottage. Seacoast residents made a donation of any amount to attend the class. The two Yoga @ Sunset events raised $1,500, which was used to purchase heavy duty backpacks for the City of Portsmouth's Back-to-School Drive.
"...Together, we helped school children start off the new school year with the necessary tools and supplies."
Lisa Vivinetto, one of the Alliance co-founders, thanked Earl Verrier of the Kittery Trading Post for supporting the Back-to-School Drive. "The Kittery Trading Post gave the Alliance a generous discount, leaving us with $300 in additional funds. With the surplus, we were able to buy gift cards for Portsmouth’s Welfare Department, which they used to buy school supplies for their welfare families. Together, we helped school children start off the new school year with the necessary tools and supplies," shared Lisa Vivinetto.
The Alliance for Greater Good also extended its thanks to GoodWork for the use of Carey Cottage. GoodWork supports, develops, and strengthens Greater Seacoast nonprofits by maximizing their ability to deliver services. Currently, the Alliance is an incubator participant that is benefitting from GoodWork's services.
